The Utopia Fellowship recognizes founders with demonstrated achievement in building, scaling, or supporting software companies.
What Utopia fellowship is
Recognition for the work that moves things forward.
The Utopia Fellowship recognizes founders who have built, scaled, or meaningfully shaped software companies. Candidates may apply themselves or be nominated by someone who knows their work. Every application is reviewed against published criteria, with election decided by a three-person admissions panel. There is no fee to apply or be considered. Annual dues follow election.
The bar
Demonstrated achievement, independently evidenced.
Candidates must demonstrate at least two of the following.
Capital or payroll
Raised institutional capital from a named fund, or built a company that employs people it pays.
Exit
Completed the acquisition of a company they founded.
Senior operating role
Held a founder, C-level, or VP-level role at a company of recognized name or scale.
Competitive selection
Been accepted into a competitive program with a published acceptance rate.
External recognition
Received an award, named industry recognition, board seat, published work, or a speaking role at a recognized industry event.
Adoption or influence
Demonstrated meaningful customer adoption or category influence through a product, pricing, channel, or positioning motion.
Evidence is verified by a third party wherever possible.
How election works
Achievement first. Dues second.

Nomination
A candidate applies, or an existing Fellow or panel member submits a written nomination with supporting evidence.

Panel review
The admissions panel reviews the candidate against the published criteria.

Majority vote
The panel votes by majority. The decision is recorded and dated.

Notification
The candidate and nominator receive the outcome.
- 05
Annual dues
If elected, the Fellow receives an annual dues notice and membership invitation.
The panel elects twice a year. Declined candidates may be re-nominated after one full election cycle.

Utopia Fellows are elected by a three-person admissions panel of experienced founders, operators, and investors. The panel reviews each nomination against the published criteria, verifies the evidence, and elects candidates by majority vote.
